Improv team building workshops

Team building without the BLAH!

Great teams don’t just work together. They listen, adapt, collaborate and build on each other’s ideas. Joe Hammer’s improv workshops let your team practice exactly that, and have a great time doing it.

Your team doesn’t just talk about teamwork. They experience it.

This isn’t about sitting around a conference table talking about teamwork. Joe’s approach is energetic, engaging and practical. Participants practice better communication, experience it, and discover how to apply it at work right away.

Whatever your goal, Joe will give your team practical tools they can take back and put to work the next day!

  • Build stronger teams
  • Improve communication
  • Strengthen collaboration
  • Spark creativity
  • Develop adaptability
  • Break down silos

Through hands-on exercises, participants learn to…

1

Communicate more clearly and confidently.

2

Listen more effectively, and truly hear others.

3

Build on ideas instead of shutting them down.

4

Think quickly and adapt when circumstances change.

5

Collaborate more effectively.

6

Break down barriers between team members.

7

Approach challenges with greater creativity.

8

Build trust and psychological safety.

9

Become more comfortable with uncertainty and change.

The result? A team that communicates better, collaborates more naturally, and responds more effectively when things don’t go according to plan.

Built for business, not the comedy club.

Unlike comedians who bring improv into the workplace without corporate experience, Joe combines improvisation expertise with business communication and decades as a professional speaker and corporate trainer.

What teams say after working with Joe.

Joe was able to help us move into a space of vulnerability and ease… We were able, as a team, to develop skills and build rapport with one another. Our team-building session with Joe and The Outcasters led to high team morale; it genuinely increased our joy and time spent together.

The team and I had a fantastic time with The Outcasters. The team was very trepidatious about doing improv, and The Outcasters created a safe space for the team to let their guards down and get into the exercises. They also chose exercises that we can use in our day-to-day work. All in all, those who hadn’t done improv before said that it was not what they were expecting, and they had a great time!

Thank you, Joe! All throughout the day today I kept hearing about how much fun everyone had yesterday and how memorable the experience was. That’s all I could ask for. Thank you so much to you and your team for giving Brain Balance something we’ve never had before.

Team building questions.

Tell Joe about your team and goals, and he’ll recommend the right format.

No. Most participants have never done improv. The exercises are designed for business teams, and the environment is safe, supportive and judgment-free.

That’s common, and it’s fine. Teams that start out trepidatious often say it wasn’t what they expected and that they had a great time. Nobody is pushed to perform or be funny.

Yes. Joe builds each workshop around your team’s real challenges, whether that’s communication, collaboration, adaptability, trust or creative problem-solving.

At your workplace or event venue, virtually, or at The Outcasters Improv Training Center in North Scottsdale. Joe works with teams throughout Arizona and nationwide.

Joe opens with a short introduction, about 20 minutes, on improv and the Improv Edge approach from his book The Improv Edge. Then everyone gets involved in hands-on exercises. Improv can’t be learned by watching, so the session is built around participation.

Put Joe to work in your organization.

It’s engaging. It’s memorable. And it gets people actively communicating and collaborating, not just talking about it. Prefer to talk? Call 480.614.5596.
